Transcending = Being yourself…
…The most powerful transformative experience we can have, and the key to improve self-confidence, self-acceptance, inner peace, relationships etc.

6 million practitioners and 40 years of research confirm that Transcendental Meditation is the most successful relaxation method in the world…because truly being yourself has far more profound effects than just relaxation…
Being yourself…easy, effortless, enjoyable
How can we bring the mind in a state of complete inner silence? We can’t try to make the mind silent. The more we try, the more we would only keep it active.
The trick is not to try, but to let it happen naturally. Being yourself is a state of coming home for the mind, a state of complete inner fulfilment and happiness. This is the most enjoyable experience the mind can have, and the mind will go to this state by itself as soon as it gets the chance.
The mind is already genetically programmed to transcend. (go beyond the finest impulse of thought). We only have to learn to activate this natural tendency of the mind. This is what the Transcendental Meditation technique does. This is why anyone can learn it, why it is easy and enjoyable to practice, and so effective to create profound changes.
Long term effects that are considered impossible
When the mind repeatedly alternates the experience of being itself with activity, it will soon start to learn to experience both at the same time. We literally train our minds to be itself, and to keep that inner silence and inner peace all the time, even when we’re in activity.
The result: Our self-confidence improves, we accept ourselves as we are, we spontaneously live more in the present moment, relationships improve etc.
The effect of TM on being yourself can easily be measured, through self-actualization tests.
After studying the most successful people in society, and discovering that the one thing they all had in common was that they were simply themselves, psychologist Abraham Maslow developed tests to measure to which degree people could be themselves, something he called self-actualization.
He found that on average only about 1% of the population was fully self-actualized and that self-actualization no longer improves after early adolescence.
Yet when a long-term year study was done with Maharishi University of Management students (who practiced the TM technique as part of their university curriculum). Researchers found that 6% of them were already fully self-actualized at the start of the study as a result of their TM practice. After 10 years no less than 38% were fully self-actualized.
This was such an exceptional improvement that the chance it could have been a coincidence was less than of 1 in 5 million (p=.0000002 what is a p-value?). In the 3 control universities (all top universities) no significant improvement was measured after 10 years.Ref.Journal of Social Behavior and Personality 17: 93–121, 2005
Being yourself: Transcending compared to relaxation
The more scientific studies that can independently confirm a particular effect, the more reliable this effect becomes. Over the past 40 years more than 20 researches, with in total more than 500 subjects, have confirmed that TM creates a significant growth in self-actualization, even already in the first 3 months of TM practice.
When the average effect of the first 18 TM studies was compared to the average effect of all the other meditation techniques that were researched, TM (transcending) was found to be 3 to 4 times more effective than just relaxation to grow self-actualization.Ref.Journal of Social Behaviour and Personality, vol. 6, 1991, pp 189-247
Relaxing the mind is not the same as transcending. Only when the mind can truly transcend the finest stages of thought, will the mind be truly itself, and only then the real effects start to show.
Learning to be yourself is the greatest gift you can give to yourself.
Being yourself, only one side-effect of a complete transformation.
