Why are people unemployed? Of course the social climate is one of the reasons, and the TM technique can help with this too. The underlying cause though, is that the value people can contribute to an organization is too low as compared to their salary cost. For example, for a factory employee, competition from China can be an issue, as salaries are much cheaper there. So for that employee, their salary cost is too high as compared to the value he or she can add.
Governments attempt to solve this problem by trying to increase the value people can add, by giving the unemployed training to teach them new skills. Very often this seems to be difficult though. Most of the (long-term) unemployed people find it hard to learn new skills. It’s as if something is stuck in their brain, something that blocks their thinking. These days, this can be objectively measured for the unemployed, just like it can be done with prisoners.
Modern, medical technologies can show visually how the brain works and for some brains, it looks almost like they have holes. These are parts of the brain that are no longer active. Why are these parts shut down? It’s mainly due to 3 causes: stress, alcohol and drugs. When these parts are no longer active, then the person looses the ability to do certain things and this decreases how much value a person can add to a company. The employee has difficulty with new concepts, he or she is less creative, has a hard time learning new thing or planning or thinking long-term. This in turn least to behavior that will create more stress and this continues the vicious circle.
Through the Transcendental Meditation technique, this vicious circle can be turned into a virtuous circle (for the effects of TM on the brain, see intelligence). Inactive parts of the brain are re-activated, people start to think differently, they are motivated to learn new things and to get a job again.
The Transcendental meditation technique is so effective to give unemployed people a second chance because it offers a holistic approach (see the highest human experience). It is a simple technique that anybody can learn and practice and it allows people to get in touch with their true inner nature. And when we do that, then everything changes.
